TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – More than 1,000 human trafficking victims are identified in Florida every year. State lawmakers are working to get that number closer to zero.
“We have a lot of work to be done,” Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez.
Nearly 3,000 people from Florida called the National Human Trafficking hotline in 2021, which is more than almost every other state.
“I was first trafficked at the age of 15. That carried out through my childhood and into adulthood,” Marianne Thomas, a human trafficking survivor, said.
