In 2019, a new law passed requiring healthcare professionals to post signage about human trafficking in their place of work “in a conspicuous place accessible to employees” by January 1, 2021. (Fla. Stat. 456.0341(3))
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Tallahassee and the Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center (STAC) have partnered to provide a new co-branded poster that provides information and resources for individuals who may be victims of human trafficking. This poster meets the design and compliance language requirements of the State of Florida which addresses healthcare professionals licensed by the following Boards: Acupuncture, Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Chiropractic Medicine, Podiatric Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing Home Administration, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Nutrition, Respiratory Care, Massage Therapy, and Physical Therapy. Healthcare professionals licensed by these Boards must complete one hour of continuing education (CE) on human trafficking and post a sign about human trafficking in their office by January 1, 2021.
Healthcare providers are mandated by Florida law to post this – but MANY employees and workplaces could also benefit to have this information posted prominently.
