Identifying Human Trafficking in Domestic Violence Relationships: How OTIP Letters and Certifications Can Enhance Access to Public Benefits and Services for Survivors of Trafficking and Their Children
September 20, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Identifying human trafficking within domestic violence improves victim safety and also expedites protection, work authorization, and victims’ access to public benefits access. This webinar will offer tips and tools to identify human trafficking by intimate partners and family members, discuss new DHS policies on domestic violence and involuntary servitude, and explore how survivors and their children benefit from being identified as victims of human trafficking. Expert staff from the HHS Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) will discuss federal trafficking definitions, the benefits and services foreign-born victims of sex and labor trafficking receive through OTIP certification letters and child trafficking victim eligibility letters, and interim assistance that may be available to child trafficking victims. This webinar aims to assist professionals in promptly identifying trafficking victims, enabling them to access state and federal public benefits and to receive case management support from OTIP.
