In this episode, we Imagine Freedom with Sameer Jain. Sameer is a survivor of labor trafficking. He also is an immigrant who The Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center had the honor of working with when he and his family came to Tallahassee after being trafficked.
Sameer is a compelling and thoughtful person. He reflects deeply, and in a common-sense way, about how our systems need to look at this issue of human trafficking differently and what we as individuals can do to help so that, as he says, even one person can realize that what is happening to them is wrong and that there is help.
Samir is also a great public policy thinker, and we talk about what elected leaders and us regular people can do at the national, state and local levels to make a difference. And by the way, this podcast is not the only place that Sameer is speaking out: The US Department of Justice has invited him to speak and he is on a prestigious national human trafficking survivor council.
Sameer also helps us to see how people in the private sector need to be educated about this topic and take immediate action.
