STAC is happy to participate in Peace4theBigBend’s 9th Annual Trauma-Informed Care Conference, Instilling Hope, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 11 at the Augustus B. Turnbull III Florida State Conference Center. This conference is to help our community learn about the prevalence of trauma, raise awareness and build resilience within our community.
The conference includes presentations and speakers related to trauma and drug addition, restorative justice, burnout and trauma among in the helping professions, the LGBTQ+ community, human trafficking, homelessness, natural disasters and Hurricane Michael, and PTSD.
Presenters include Nicole Rainey, a registered art therapist and licensed mental health counselor with over five years of clinical experience working with survivors of severe sexual trauma, and STAC’s Executive Director, Robin Hassler Thompson, who will speak about responding to possible human trafficking situations with sensitivity to survivors’ trauma.
